Why Should I Sign For A One Year UFC Contract With Kevin Kelly?
Two-year contracts, five-year contracts and twelve-month contracts are all variations of the same thing: an annual agreement between sportbooks and its customer. The term “ufa” has nothing to do with either of those things, though. What it actually stands for is “ultimate Fighting Association.” The UFC is the governing body for mixed martial arts, which boasts a membership numbering in the millions.
A few quick words about ufa before we move on: ufa stands for “unlimited fight agreement,” while martial arts typically refers to “bilateral agreement.” That being said, many companies have both sportsbooks and martial arts sections in their websites today. Many MMA sites have sections where you can find full schedules, fight summaries, rankings, odds and much more.
So what does that all mean? Basically, an individual who signs a one-year deal with a storybook will be able to watch UFC pay-per-view events for either two years or three years, depending on whether the event is a “main event.” A two-year deal would cost the same as a six-fight main event series. Signing a six-fight series would cost as much as signing six separate contracts over the course of three years. So if you want to see all of your favorite fighters in the octagon, you’re better off signing a six-fight ufa deal.
Also, don’t assume that just because you’ve been offered a one-year or six-fight ufa extension, you’re getting a free pass to watch all of the biggest fights in the sport. While those are the ones you want to see, and which you probably should, there are usually several others each year in different weight classes and with different fights. So even if you get your first choice for a fight, the sportbooks may still be trying to sell you the rights to another fighter.
The good news for most people is that if you get approved for a one year ufa deal, you can cancel it at any time without penalty. If you get signed for a six-fight ufa series, you might be able to cancel it without penalties if you move to another ufa provider within a year. In other words, if you get signed for an eight-fight ufa series, and then switch to another ufa provider, you can cancel the series and not lose any money. If you were to sign a one-year deal, you’d have to worry about potential fines, possible jail time, and so on. But if you sign a six-fight ufa series, the series is yours to keep, and you don’t have to worry about such things.
So if you have been offered a fight in the future but haven’t yet signed a contract with an organization, don’t worry. You’ll still be able to fight. And even if you are under contract for a six-fight ufa series, you should seriously think about signing for a one-year deal with Kevin Kelly.
